About Us

What We Do

In Brattleboro, people over the age of 16 can vote legally, but not many do. We want more teenagers to vote, and we encourage this by providing friendly and youth-centered resources on local politics. You might see us at Gallery Walk running a voter registration drive, or even volunteering on election day.

Brattleboro Area Youth Council

BYCED is a sub-committee of the Brattleboro Area Youth Council. The Brattleboro Area Youth Council is a youth lobby that takes on projects advocating for collaborative community safety measures, friendships between youth and the homeless community, shared power in schools, and civic engagement for teens. We challenge the notion that youth should not be on equal footing in local politics and hold decision-makers in our schools and towns accountable. We are youth-led with the support of adult advisors Cassandra Holloway, Diana Wahle, and Andrea Lastname.

Our Sponsors

The Brattleboro Area Youth Council is made possible by our generous sponsors, the Brattleboro Elks Lodge and 802 Credit Union. If you manage a business or community organization and would like to support our work, please get in touch with Firstnam Lastname, emaiL@gmail.com.
